Young talent Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw expressed disappointment at not having been considered for the selection in the Indian team in recent times.

Shaw once again made headlines after he scripted history by recording the second-highest individual Ranji Trophy score of all time in the ongoing match against Assam. The swashbuckling opener mustered 379 off 383 balls to record the 17th-highest First-class score of all time.

Shaw's knock was laced with 49 fours and four maximums. His knock came at a brisk rate of 98.96. Shaw forged a 401-run partnership in 510 balls with skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who played a captain’s knock of 191 to guide Mumbai to a mammoth 687 for four. The 23-year-old was all set to breach the 400-run mark but eventually fell prey to Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag.

Prithivi Shaw, who has showcased consistency in domestic cricket over the last few years, has continuously been ignored by the all-India selection committee.

Despite being touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket, he's struggling to get a national recall. Shaw's numbers of late across three formats of the game make it hard to argue in the favour of any other player being picked over him.

Speaking after his splendorous knock, the right-handed batter admitted that he gets hurt after being continuously ignored by the selectors.

"Sometimes I do get hurt once you are at peak and don’t get picked. Joh mere hath mein nahi hai uska dukh bana ke kya fyada.( What’s the use of being sad about something you can’t control)."

Prithvi Shaw said in an interview with the Indian Express.
