KL Rahul is a good player but consistency is missing: Mohammad Azharuddin

KL Rahul's form over the past year or so has been the least inspiring for India. Rahul has struggled to get top-form with the bat since making a return from injury, and that has raised doubts over the Karnataka player's place in the side.

In the ongoing One-Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka, Rahul is playing as a designated wicket-keeper in the side, ahead of the likes of Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson.

Former India captain and one of the most elegant batters of all time, Mohammad Azharuddin has pointed out Rahul's flaws. Speaking to PTI, Azharuddin explained that coaches should work on improving Rahul's shot selection process.

Here's what Azhar said

“I think consistency is the problem in KL Rahul’s case. But I think there are coaches who should rectify his flaws. In my opinion, he is a good player but consistency is missing in his game.

I think Rahul is getting out in a lot of manners. Primarily, it is not the good balls that are getting him out. It is poor shot selection first up that is causing problems,"

Rahul, who scored 39 in the Guwahati ODI,  will be seen in action today at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where India will look to gain an unassailable 2-0 lead, while Sri Lanka will hope to draw level.
