On Tuesday, Cricket Australia announced Austrlia's 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2023, captained by Meg Lanning

Lanning, who is making her return to international cricket after a six-month break, played her first List-A match for Victoria after interval last weekend.

Teammate Jess Jonassen has expressed excitement over Lanning's return to the national side.

According to PerthNow, the all-rounder stated a sense of joy erupted within the Australian side when CA shared a video announcing Lanning's comeback.

"I am absolutely pumped. When we were told a few weeks ago that Meg was coming back I must admit I got a little bit teary. She did a little video message, and true to Meg she was a bit awkward not knowing the best way to do it, but I couldn't have been happier for that news.

She genuinely looked happy. That was for me the biggest thing, seeing the difference in her as a human instead of knowing she was coming back to playing cricket. I am really excited to see what the second coming of Meg is going to be like (based on) how successful the first stint for her was pre having that break."

She further revealed that Lanning worked in a local cafe during her time away from cricket.

The highly-successful Lanning will lead Australia against touring Pakistan in a three-match T20I and ODI series starting January 16, before departing for South Africa to defend their T20 WC title.
