Australia's stability will put us in good stead against India: Usman Khawaja

The much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is just under a month away, and Australian players have already started talking about their chances in India

In-form opener Usman Khawaja has claimed that the stability within the current Australian team will help them challenge India on their home turf.

Since making his comeback in 2022, Khawaja has amassed 1,275 runs, including 4 hundred and 5 half-centuries.

Australia lost only one Test last year and played an almost unchanged batting order in every Test, barring their recent encounter against South Africa in Sydney.

Speaking at the launch of 'The Test' documentary, Khawaja added that the continuity of playing XI instilled confidence in players for the long run.

"We've played a lot of games in the subcontinent. Every single player, particularly the batting, has played in the subcontinent numerous times and you take a lot from those experiences. Think the stability of this team is a big one, too.

"Every time I've gone to subcontinent I've felt like there's been a lot of chopping and changing, talked about horses for courses back in the day, it's very hard to win cricket games when that's happening in my opinion. The stability there has been for this team, at least the last year and a half, think that will put us in good stead."

Cricket Australia will announce Australia's Test squad for their upcoming India tour on Wednesday, with the first Test at Nagpur beginning on February 9.
