Jasprit Bumrah last year suffered a serious injury before the T20 World Cup 2022. Bumrah has been out of the squad since September 2022. Following his back stress injury the bowler was recommended 6 months of rest and rehabilitation to recover from the injury.

Recently, Bumrah was included in the Indian squad for the series against Sri Lanka. Many concerns were raised related to Bumrah's return. Ahead of the marquee Border-Gavaskar Series, the bowler's fitness is of utmost importance to ensure his return. Critics had pointed out that maybe the Indian management might be rushing him back into the game.

According to reports, the lead pacer will be, again, ruled out of the ODI series as a precautionary measure considering the workload management. He hasn't travelled with the team for the first ODI in Guwahati.

With the ODI World Cup and the Border-Gavaskar right around the corner, it is penultimate that the bowler isn't rushed back onto the field.
