It was a dreamy start for the ace Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya who led his side Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title that too in the inaugural season.

His captaincy credentials helped him to get a senior role at the Indian cricket team as he was recently announced the vice-captain of the limited over side along with stand-in skipper during the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma.

A few days back under his leadership, India defeated Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series 2-1 after which he has been praised by many. Now, he opened up about his thinking and also credited the person who helped him get involved in this.

Pandya is extremely thankful to the Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra, calling him an important person in his life for adding value to his captaincy. He further called himself and the left-armer two different personalities having very similar thoughts.

"What has been very important from Gujarat point of view is the kind of coach I worked with. Ashish Nehra made a big difference in my life, because of our mindsets. We might be two different personalities, but we have very similar cricketing thoughts,

"Because I was with him, it added value to my captaincy. It helped me to get exactly what I know. It was just about getting that assurance, once I got that... the awareness of this game I always knew. It was all about knowing and backing what I knew already. It has definitely helped me."

Hardik would next be seen playing for India during the upcoming ODI series against the Island nation beginning on the 10th of January.
