SKY's magic, Arshdeep's comeback performance help India clinch series

After Suryakumar Yadav's riveting century in the first innings, Sri Lanka needed more than special from their batters, but the Asian Champions fell well short on the do-and-die stage.

Earlier in the evening, the World No.1 T20I batter not only scored his third century in the format but became the second fastest Indian batter to notch a T20I hundred.

Courtesy of SKY's enthralling 112-run knock and fine contributions from Shubman Gill (46) and Rahul Tripathi (35), India registered their second-highest T20 total against Sri Lanka.

Youngsters became clinical, at last

Despite 228 runs in the bank, the young Indian bowling lineup had to stand up and seal a win, and the series.

Come to the chase, India appeared to have gotten off to a dream start when Hardik Pandya trapped Pathum Nissanka in front, only for the DRS to overturn the decision. But after some early fireworks from Mendis in the powerplay, the Indian bowlers took the game by the scruff of its neck and never looked back.

Against in-form openers, Pandya and Arshdeep Singh were hit for cleaners. However, Axar Patel provided the first breakthrough in Kusal Mendis, while Arshdeep got the better of Nissanka.

Yuzvendra Chahal, then, got Avishka Fernando's wicket on a rank short delivery. And the flurry of wickets fell in the middle overs.

Arshdeep was the pick of the bowlers, as he roared back after a disappointing first over to pick up 3/20 from his 2.4 overs, while all the other bowlers chipped in with crucial wickets.

Expectedly, SKY earned the Player of the Match for his riveting century, his Axar Patel got the Player of the Series trophy for his allround performance throughout the series.
