Suryakumar Yadav lightened the gala at Rajkot's Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium with his batting extravaganza.

SKY, as they call him, scored the second-fastest T20I hundred by an Indian batter; beating KL Rahul's (46 balls) feat that he registered at Lauderhill, USA against West Indies in 2016.

The Indian vice-captain is just behind the regular skipper, Rohit Sharma (35) on the list. Sharma is also the joint-fastest centurion in the T20 Internationals. Ironically, he registered against Sri Lanka as well.

The Mumbai Indians batter finished off his innings at 112* off 51 deliveries, after he got to his century in 45 balls.

This is Surya’s third century for India in the shortest format, where he has been India’s most consistent and dangerous bet.

He scored a magnificent half-century in the last fixture against the Lankans as well. But, unfortunately, it went in vain, as the Dasun Shanaka-led force pummeled them in Pune.

In this do-or-die clash, while batting first, India got benefiting contributions from Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill. However, the World T20 No.1 batter proved to be the showstopper for the Men in Blue.

The Hardik Pandya and co. would need to defend 228 runs in the second innings, which would be a very tough mountain for the Asian Champions to climb.
