Australian skipper Meg Lanning, who is currently playing for Victoria in the WNCL posted a half-century in her last outing before the white-ball series against Pakistan women kick-off.

After last year's Commonwealth Games, Lanning took an indefinite break from cricket, but confirmed in December that she'll return for the series against Pakistan, slated to begin from January 16.

The 30-yer-old played two matches for Victoria in WNCL, and managed a decent 29 in the first outing against NSW. However, chasing a tricky 284 in the second match against the same opponent, Lanning stitched a 104-run partnership alongside Ellyse Perry and scored a crucial 61.

Following the game, her teammate Ellyse Perry lauded Lanning and reckons that the national team captain is in 'exceptional' form at the moment.

"I thought Meg was exceptional today. She struck them really well. I thought, once she got past that 20 patch, she really just kicked on. Some of the shots she played were really great, free-flowing cricket," Perry said after the game against NSW.

"It's so nice to have her back in the group," Perry added.

Australia will face Pakistan in three ODIs, followed by three T20I matches, and the series will conclude on January 29.
