In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has finalised five candidates for the men's selection committee panel.

Interestingly, the board has brought back Chetan Sharma, who was fired following India's disastrous semifinal exit from the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Apart from Sharma, Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola and Sridharan Sharath are the other five names in the list.

Earlier, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Ms Sulakshana Naik, Mr Ashok Malhotra, and Mr Jatin Paranjape undertook an extensive process for selecting members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee.

First, the committee shortlisted eleven names and then decided to go forward with the aforementioned five candidates to represent the selection panel.

It will be interesting to see how Indian fans and experts react to the call if the former pacer gets reappointed as the chief selector.
