The much-awaited ODI World Cup is scheduled in India later this year. As per reports, the hosts have shortlisted a 20-man probable squad for the tournament. So, fans and experts have been guessing the players the Men in Blue will likely field in the showpiece event.

Meanwhile, legendary former Indian opener and chief selector Kris Srikkanth has dropped Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur from his probable squad.

Srikkanth, who was a part of the World Cup winning squad in 1983, has chosen Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah as his seamers, backing all-rounder Deepak Hooda to make it into the team.

Here's what Srikkanth stated

"Two of the players won’t be in my list, Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur. If you want my pacers, they would be Bumrah, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh and Mohmmed Siraj. Four pacers are enough,

"I’m speaking as a chairman of selectors and not a fan, I would instead bring in Hooda. And I believe these are the guys that will win matches, what do you want? You want to win matches, you need horses like Yusuf Pathan who will win you matches single handedly."

Meanwhile, the Indian team will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the final T20I of the three-match series on Saturday. After that, the teams will battle it out in a three-match ODI series starting January 10.
