AUS vs SA: Rain forces Day 3 to end with total abandonment

It was another frustrating day of cricket at the Sydney Cricket Ground as the third day of the third and final Test between  Australia and South Africa ended without any play. Australia's opener Usman Khawaja who was batting at 195 after the end of day two, is still stuck at the same score, 5 short of his double hundred which is understandably quite infuriating for him.

The host's are currently at the score of 475 for the loss of four wickets after playing 131 overs with Khawaja and covid-positive Matt Renshaw still at the crease. The Kangaroos reached this score with the help of two top innings from Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith and Travis Head, who played vital 79, 104 and 70 runs knock, respectively.

The bowling unit has been a struggle so far with two wickets for Anrich Nortje and one is for Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada. Except Nortje, there isn't much to talk about as the runs have been leaked at a rate of over 3.5.

With two days left in the game, it would be interesting to see if a result is possible with still the first innings going on. Moreover, the day four is predicted with some more rain which everyone hopes doesn't happen. As expected, it would start half an hour early to accommodate some lost overs from the previous days.

Should this Test end in the draw the series will go to the hosts as they're already up by 2-0.

Brief Score

Australia 1st innings: 475-4 (131.0)

Usman Khawaja 195* (368), Steve Smith 104 (192);
Anrich Nortje 2-55 (22), Keshav Maharaj 1-108 (25)
