Delhi Capitals have reportedly approached David Warner to lead their side for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. With regular skipper Rishabh Pant out indefinitely due to an accident, the Capitals have asked the former IPL winning captain to lead the side.

Pant's absence is a huge blow for the Delhi Capitals. He performs multiple roles for them and is a mainstay who can play at any position as per the situation.

"Pant has been the mainstay of the middle order. Warner has the experience of leading IPL teams. The management will speak to him. The middle order needs an impactful batter now," TOI quoted a source as saying.

Moreover, with Pant out of the IPL 2023, Sarfaraz Khan will be ask to keep wickets for the upcoming season. Although DC have Phil Salt in their squad, but his inclusion will impact the playing combination, especially with the four overseas players limit.

The upcoming Indian Premier League season is likely to start from March end.
