The ongoing Nepal T20 League organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), which commenced on 24th December has been struck with controversies as the match-fixing issue has crept into the dressing room of a few teams with former national team skipper Gyanendra Malla making startling revelations.

Malla who is leading Kathmandu Knights in the league said,

“I cannot say about other teams, but a member of our team got such a proposal. We have already reported it to the [International Cricket Council’s] Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). But getting a proposal and accepting it are two different things. It is not necessary that everyone will accept a match-fixing proposal… We have reported it to the ACU and are monitoring it.”

Meanwhile, one of the sources linked to the ICC who works for the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) revealed that the approaches were being made to seven or eight of those players.

“Some Nepali players have reported to us. We have even collected some evidence of fixing by foreign players and officials and have already sent them to the ICC.”

The news comes after the reports of pay disputes among the players and the franchises surfaced who have been struggling so far to come on the same terms, with the board having sanctioned the Seven3Sports, the commercial and strategic rights of the league without any open bidding in the market.

However, even after all these reports by players, the board has denied any of such activities taking place and called people to come up with proper evidence to support their argument.

Further, acting secretary Prashant Bikram Malla is unhappy with how things have gone and want everyone to not spread false rumours that hurt their league and country.

After all this, the Home Minister ordered the police department to establish a team and investigate the matter.
