It has been quite an interesting World Test Championship cycle with Australia at the top, India placed in second position and both sides looking to seal the final berth. The game is wide open for any side to come in and seal the spot for the finale which will be played in early June.

Currently, the Kangaroos are involved in the third Test against South Africa who are already down by 2-0. Meanwhile, skipper Pat Cummins has shown his interest in playing India in the finals of the world event that will be played at a neutral venue i.e London.

Before that, the two sides will engage in a four-match Test series that will be played in India beginning on 9th February. Cummins, who has lead his side brilliantly in this cycle has revealed that it has been their biggest motivation.

“It’s been a big driver for us over the last couple of years. I think playing in London (in) a final against India, say, at a neutral venue, that’s really exciting. I think we’ve been playing fantastically, we’ve put ourselves in that position to earn that spot early which is a huge driver for us,

“It’s always exciting going to England and playing an Ashes series, but adding in a World Test Championship final (prior to the Ashes) is huge."

Australia will resume day 2 of the Test against South Africa on 147/2 with Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith still at the crease.
