Former New Zealand cricketer and chairman of selector, Frank Cameron has died in Christchurch, aged 90.

Cameron bagged 62 wickets in 19 Test matches, at an average of 29.82 between 1961 and 1965.

His best figures came against Pakistan in Auckland when he took 4 for 36 in the first innings and 5 for 34 in the second innings.

As the chairman of selectors, Cameron was an influential figure for New Zealand cricket. When he first joined the selection panel, New Zealand had only won four Tests in 37 years. By the time his tenure ended, the Kiwis had one another 21 matches.

He was also a key figure to include Richard Hadlee in the squad for the series against India in 1976. The legendary all-rounder was yet to cement his place in the national side but picked up 11 wickets in the match as New Zealand won by an innings and 33 runs.
