After Mohammad Amir indicated making a comeback to international cricket, the PCB chairman Najam Sethi has paved the way for the superstar to return.

Former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja openly spoke about not selecting Amir for Pakistan under his term, citing the left-handed bowler's involvement in spot-fixing and his views on cricket in the nation.

Interestingly, Sharjeel Khan, who was involved in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing, was selected as a probable by interim selection chief Shahid Afridi for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

Earlier, Sethi was instrumental in inducting Amir back into the international arena for Pakistan. However, the 30-year-old retired from international cricket in 2020 following rifts with the then-Pakistan head and bowling coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis.

Here's what Sethi said

"Amir has been a very good performer for Pakistan and we have no problems if he wants to make himself available for selection again."

Sources close to Amir maintain that the pacer will only play white-ball cricket if he returns and continue to stay away from Tests.

Currently training at PCB's high-performance centre in Lahore, Amir will be seen playing in the PSL for Karachi Kings in the upcoming 2023 edition.
