The 27th match of the ongoing Big Bash League witnessed Melbourne Renegades steamroll Melbourne Stars in a low-scoring affair, courtesy of a sensational bowling performance from Tom Rogers. The Renegades have moved to the third position in the points table with this stunning victory.

Batters' collective effort leads Renegades to a respectable total

After being put into bat, Melbourne Renegades got off to a disastrous start, losing Sam Harper for a golden duck. However, experienced batters Martin Guptill and Shaun Marsh resurrected the ship, stitching a crucial 51-run stand for the second wicket.

However, the Men in Red were in deep trouble once these two batters were dismissed in quick succession. But Jon Wells and McKenzie Harvey stood tall and took their side to 141 through their vital contributions of 24 and 32 runs, respectively.

For the Stars, Trent Boult and Luke Wood claimed two wickets each, while the remaining three scalps were equally shared by Beau Webster, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Adam Zampa.

Chasing 142, the Stars got off to a forgettable start, as Tom Rogers ripped through their top order, dismissing Joe Clarke, Thomas Rogers and Beau Webster inside three overs.

Will Sutherland removed the dangerous Marcus Stoinis for six, while Rogers came back to trigger another collapse, dismissing Hilton Cartwright and Luke Wood.

Nick Larkin emerged as the lone warrior for the Stars, but his 40-ball 48* could only reduce the deficit, as the Stars were restricted to 108 for nine in 20 overs.

Rogers claimed five wickets for 16 runs, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman scalped two wickets for seven runs.
