After a rather disappointing tour of Bangladesh, India will take on Sri Lanka in a white-ball series that starts from Tuesday. The series commences with the T20I leg and Hardik Pandya is all set to lead the Indian side.

Ahead of the first T20I, Hardik Pandya attended the pre-series press conference and shed light on Rishabh Pant's unfortunate accident and his own Test comeback.

Pant met with a car accident on Friday and as per the reports he'll be out for at-least six months. Pandya spoke about Pant's health and raised concern about the situation.

"What happened to Rishabh Pant was unfortunate. Our love, prayers are with him. He's an important player for the team. We need to evaluate. In his absence others will get opportunity. A huge difference when he's not part of the squad," Pandya said the press conference.

The stand-in skipper also spoke about his much awaited Test return.

"Let me be fully on Blues first, and then I'll see about the whites."

The Indian all-rounder was also asked about his bowling, and what has changed for him.

"I know the only language that is hard work. Injuries are not in my hand but I believe in the process. 2022 was individually my best year. We missed the World Cup, but that's part and parcel of the game. My goal is to help the team win multi-nation tournaments," Pandya added.

After the T20I leg gets over, the focus will shift towards the ODI series, with skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul set to return.
