Since being ousted from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), former chairman Ramiz Raja has been on an offensive against former players, journalists, and critics. After taking pot-shots at former teammates Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis for their alleged involvement in the match-fixing as per Justice Qaiyaam report, the former Pakistan skipper has defended his decision to sack Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis.

Misbah and Younis worked as Pakistan's head and bowling coach when Raja took over the reins of the PCB, but resigned from their post ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, due to differences with him.

Speaking to Samaa TV, Raja said it was within his rights as PCB chief to dismiss the duo.

“They received their full payments for two years. They were given full respect. As a chairman, it was my right to dismiss them. Even now, they are talking about removing Saqlain Mushtaq and replacing him with Mickey Arthur. I made contracts in such a way that I didn’t want the board to be left with a coaching setup for three years,"

The stylish-batter revealed that his talks with both Misbah and Waqar that did not end fruitful.

However, Misbah has openly spoken about his expectations of Raja as chairman and has denied any differences in the past.
