India Women’s Under-19 spinner Mannat Kashyap pulled off a ‘mankad’ against South Africa in Pretoria.

The cricketer rattled the non-strikers Jenna Evans' stumps to seemingly dismiss her for just four in the dying stages of the match.

However, senior player and captain Shafali Verma called back the young South African, who was eventually dismissed by Archana Devi a while later.

The India Under-19 Women’s team is currently in South Africa for a five-match T20 series. With all matches slated to be played in Pretoria, the series serves as a testing background for the tourists ahead of the first edition of U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in January.

The young Indian brigade, under the leadership of Shafali Verma, made a strong start to their month-long campaign by registering a huge win against the hosts.

After amassing 137-5 off their 20 overs, the Indian Women reduced their South African counterparts to 65-7 at one stage. It was in the 17th over of the innings when Kashyap pulled off the ‘mankad’ against Evans, only for the dismissal to be withdrawn by the Indian skipper later.

Despite the reprieve, Evans only scored seven in the run-chase as South Africa fell 54 runs short of their target.
