In an unfortunate turn of events, promising Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out from the third Test in Sydney due to a finger injury.

Notably, Green was retired hurt after being struck in his right index finger by Anrich Nortje on Tuesday.

The scans revealed a fracture that will keep him out of the Sydney Test. However, it has been clarified that he will bat but not bowl in the remainder of the ongoing Test match in Melbourne.

Green's absence could be a massive blow to Australia, considering the balance he brings to the table through his incredible all-round attributes. As per reports, Aaron Hardie could be announced as his replacement for the third Test.

Although he hasn't got many chances to bat with the batting unit firing in this series, the tall lad troubled South African batters with his pace and bounce in the first innings, recording a spectacular five-for.

He has returned to the field despite being injured and is currently batting on 34* with Alex Carey (98*). As of writing, the hosts are in the driving seat, placed at 535 for 7, leading their counterparts by a whopping 346-run margin.
