The year 2022 in Indian cricket has been about comebacks, first, it was Dinesh Karthik and now it is about Jaydev Unadkat. Unadkat made a return to Tests for India after 12 long years in the Mirpur encounter against Bangladesh last week, to play his second match after missing 118 games.

Former India pacer Karsan Ghavri, speaking to TOI, said that the left-arm bowler should play against the visiting Australian side next year, given his experience of bowling in subcontinental conditions over the years.

"Unadkat shouldn't be dropped. He should be given a long rope now. We will be playing versus Australia now and Unadkat should play all the Tests in the series. He bowled really well in this Test match (against Bangladesh). He deserves to be in the Indian side for some time.

"I am sure India's search for a left-arm pacer would end if he gets to play all the Tests versus Australia at home.

In 97 First-Class matches for Saurashtra, Unadkat has 356 wickets, which includes 20 five-wickets and five 10-wicket hauls since 2010.

Further, Ghavri, who coached Saurashtra in 2019, also revealed that the left-arm pacer was not included in the Indian team in the same year as the-then selectors did not want an aged player.
