SRH overspent on Harry Brook, feels David Hussey

The IPL 2023 mini-auction saw many players getting million-dollar deals. As expected earlier, young England batter Harry Brook grabbed the attention of several franchises, out of whom Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged as the winner, bagging Brook for a whopping 13.25 Crores.

Although the English sensation was expected to be sold at a high price, some experts, including former Australian cricketer David Hussey, found him a bit overpriced.

Hussey asserted that SRH already have a similar player in Aiden Markram; therefore, they shouldn't have gone desperate for someone like Brook in the mini-auction.

However, the former CSK all-rounder hailed the SRH think-tank for spending on Mayank Agarwal and budding Indian talents.

Here's what Hussey stated

"I thought SRH probably overpaid. I’m not unsurprised by the amount of money he went for but I think SRH spent a lot of money on a similar player like Aiden Markram already on the list. It’s a good buy, but have they overspent? Hope they aren’t going to miss out on anybody in the backend like a good domestic spinner like M Ashwin or Markande,

"I think Mayank Agarwal is an excellent purchase, possible captain, just what they needed at the top of the list as well. I think Brian Lara is pulling all the right strings at the moment when it comes to Indian talent."
