Mirpur has traditionally supported the spinners, and everyone involved in this Test match expected it to be spinners' best friend - but that was not the case. To everyone's surprise, there was a green tinge that tempted both the sides to go pace heavy.

A harsh call but India decided to drop their match-winner in Kuldeep Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat was given a lifeline after 12 years.

Seemed like Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan was determined to prove that his batters can hang around against this quality Indian bowling attack and decided to bat first. Bold call, at-least on paper.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan, continued the run-flow from their previous innings and added 39 for the first wicket, before Unadkat finally got his first Test wicket in the form of Zakir Hasan, who departed for 15.

Shanto followed his opener partner and was sent packing in the very next over by R Ashwin. Both Umesh and Siraj found movement and utilised it to perfection and troubled the batters at will.

With two wickets in quick successions, Bangladesh needed a rebuild and that was provided by the returning Mominul Haque and Shakib Al Hasan.

The rebuilding was short lived as just after the lunch break, Shakib trying to clear the in-field was caught at mid off for 16. However, with wickets tumbling at regular intervals, Mominul stood at one end but hardly got support from the other end.

Mominul and Mushfiqur added 48 runs for the fourth wicket before Unadkat broke the stand. Coming around the wicket, he got the extra bounce and that troubled Mushfiqur who nicked one back to Rishabh Pant.

Meanwhile, Mominul kept working hard and eventually notched up a gritty half-century. But his long standing resistance was finally broken when the southpaw was sent back to the pavilion by the wily Ashwin.

With Bangladesh's backbone broken, it didn't take long for Umesh to clean up the tail as the speedster scalped three tail-enders and folded Bangladesh for a paltry 227.

India needed 45 minutes to survive the final session and they did that easily, barring one DRS call which KL Rahul survived.

At stumps, India are 19 for no loss, with skipper KL Rahul batting at 3 and Shubman Gill at 14.
