Melbourne Renegades secured a four-wicket victory against Brisbane Heat in Match 10 of the Big Bash League 2022 on Wednesday at Geelong.

Hosein, Rogers restrict Renegades to a low total

Batting first, Heat didn't get off to a good start as they lost Max Bryant (5) and Colin Munro (8) early. However, the experienced Matt Renshaw (29) and Sam Billings (25) were impressive to steer the team in the right direction.

At number five came, skipper Jimmy Peirson, who played positively, amid a flurry of wickets at the other end. In the end, Peirson remained unbeaten on 45 off 30, as Heat posted 137 on the board. Tom Rogers bagged four wickets, while Akeal Hosein picked three for the Renegades.

In response to the score, Sam Harper (0), Nic Maddinson (2) and Jake Fraser McGurk (6) and Jonathan Wells (0) became a victim of Michael Neser. Interestingly, he took a hat-trick as well. In the third over, Renegades were at 4/9, and needed a quality support.

The superstars in this format, Aaron Finch and Andre Russell were impressive to put the team back into the hunt and accelerate in a fine fashion. They added 81 runs for the fifth wicket, before Russell was dismissed for a well-compiled 57 off 42.

Afterwards, Finch remained unbeaten on 31 off 43, while Akeal Hosein's sublime knock of 30 off 19 helped Renegades to secure their third successive victory.
