  • Brad Hogg Urges Ricky Ponting To Let Rishabh Pant Open For Delhi Capitals

Brad Hogg urges Ricky Ponting to let Rishabh Pant open for Delhi Capitals

Rishabh Pant is one of Indian cricket's most unique case studies. The left-handed batter, known for his aggressive and free-flowing approach, struggles in white ball while being ever-consistent in the red-ball format. Team India plays the keeper-batter in the lower-middle order, where chances at the top have been very few.

Now, former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has urged his former teammate and coach of Delhi Capitals Ricky Ponting to utilise Pant as an opener.

Pant, in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) editions, has struggled to find his mojo, and speaking on his own YouTube channel, Hogg explained how sending the 25-year-old with David Warner will only improve his limited-overs game.

Here's what Hogg said

"The only thing that I want to see with Rishabh Pant right now is improvement in white-ball formats. When the field is spread, he doesn’t seem to have much success as he has in Test cricket. He’s up there at the IPL with Ricky Ponting.

I think we’ll see a big IPL from Rishabh Pant this year. He’ll attack the game differently and he’ll have a different role. Hopefully Ricky Ponting gets him to open rather than (sending him) down the list,"

Pant will be in action for India against Bangladesh in the second and final Test at Mirpur starting Thursday.
