As per the latest announcement, South African allrounder Wayne Parnell will be leading Pretoria Capitals in the inaugural edition of the South Africa's newly formed league - SA20. The franchise that owns Delhi-based team in the Indian Premier League made the announcement on Tuesday.

While talking about his appointment, Parnell commented: "The team management has trusted me to lead this team and that's pretty special. It's a massive privilege to be able to lead the Pretoria Capitals franchise.

"Looking forward to get struck in with the boys and play a brand of cricket that is bold and fearless," the South Africa international further mentioned.

Apart from being a T20 agent globally, the 33-year-old allrounder has been a regular member of the Proteas’ white-ball teams. He was a vital member of the South African team during the T20 World Cup 2022, where he performed exceptionally well.

The allrounder has also played in the IPL; ironically, he played for Delhi Daredevils - the team the Capitals have acquired.

Returning to the Pretoria-based team, among other players, they bought Anrich Nortje, Adil Rashid, Jimmy Neesham and more for the league's inaugural edition.

As the franchise has shown immense faith in the Proteas, he could also be picked by the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL Auction, where Parnell has fixed his base price of INR 75 lakhs.
