The mini-auction of the IPL 2023 is upon us. It is just three days away scheduled to take place on the 23rd of December. 

In this section, we take a look at the top five buys of the franchises' history. This article will be dedicated to the most successful team in IPL, Mumbai Indians.

5. Harbhajan Singh: The former Indian off-spinner was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2008 for INR 3.4 Crores. Since then Harbhajan Singh served the 'Blue Brigade' for 10 years before being bought by Chennai Super Kings in 2018.

Harbhajan played 136 matches for the franchise and picked up 127 wickets in them at an average of 26.78 and an economy of 6.99. Besides, playing a vital role in the team's bowling during the middle overs, Bhajji also played some useful knocks with the bat. His importance lies in the fact that he was an integral part of the leadership group that helped Rohit Sharma as a captain in the initial days.

4. Lasith Malinga: The former Sri Lankan yorker king was an integral part of the Mumbai Indians team for 10 long years in the mega tournament. Malinga played a very important role in all five of Mumbai's title-winning runs.  He was bought by the franchise in 2009 for just INR 1.4 Crores.

During his stay as a bowler with Mumbai Indians, Malinga featured in 122 matches and picked 170 wickets in them. His average was an awe-inspiring 19.70 and his economy was 7.14. Malinga also won the Purple Cap in 2011 with 28 wickets to his name.

3. Jasprit Bumrah: The Indian speedster has been an asset for the Mumbai Indians since 2013. Bumrah was bought for just INR 10 Lakhs in the 2013 auction. 

Jasprit Bumrah has played 120 matches for the 'Blue Brigade' and has picked up 145 wickets in them. He has an impressive average of 23.30 and has conceded runs at an economy of just 7.39. His exploits in the death overs have been very important for the Mumbai Indians in their record 5 times championship effort.

2. Kieron Pollard: The West Indian all-rounder has been an integral part of the team since 2010. In the 2010 auction, Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 4.8 crores. 

Kieron Pollard played 189 matches for the team and has contributed with both the bat and the ball. In 171 innings Pollard scored 3412 runs at a staggering strike rate of 147.32 while maintaining an average of 28.67. If we speak about his bowling records, Pollard has picked up 69 wickets at an average of 31.26 and an economy of 8.77.

1.Rohit Sharma: The current Indian skipper has been the most valuable buy for Mumbai Indians in their history. Rohit Sharma was picked up in the 2011 auction by the franchise for a staggering price of INR 13 Crores. 

Since then, Rohit has played 182 matches for Mumbai Indians scoring 4709 runs in them at an average of 30.19 and a strike rate of 129.51. But besides the impressive batting record, it is Rohit's captaincy that makes him the most valuable buy of the franchise. Sharma has been the captain of the team under whom they have won five IPL trophies.
