James Vince announced as the captain of Gulf Giants in ILT20 2023

Gulf Giants have appointed England batter James Vince as their captain in the inaugural season of International League T20. 

The 2023 edition of the ILT20 is scheduled to be played from January 13 to February 12. The six-team tournament will comprise a total of 34 matches. 

Vince is an experienced individual, who has featured in 313 T20s and scored 8348 runs, with 49 fifties and four centuries. He has played in almost all franchise leagues around the world. 

The top-order batter, Vince led the Hampshire to T20 Blast 2022 victory. Interestingly, he was the top-scorer in the tournament with 678 runs in 16 innings, while hitting three fifties and two tons.

"This is a great honour and an immense amount of responsibility to be captaining the Gulf Giants in the ILT20. I am glad that the team management and coach Andy Flower have placed trust in me," Vince was quoted as saying in a release.

The 31-year-old will don the leadership role of an impressive squad, which have rich T20 experience as well. Vince and Chris Lynn, who played together in Abu Dhabi T10 will be the play for Gulf Giants as well. Apart from them, Tom Banton, Shimron Hetmyer and David Wiese have been impressive in the T20s in the last few years. 

Also, Ollie Pope, who is a talented red-ball batter for England also marks his presence in the squad. In the bowling unit, Chris Jordan, Jamie Overton, Qais Ahmad are the experienced options for the Kings. It will be interesting to see Giants progression under Vince.
