The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office bearers, including President Roger Binny, want Indian players to partake in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments while not representing the country, InsideSport reported.

Notably, several contracted players like Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Yuzvendra Chahal are playing in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 for their respective states.

The report further added that all the players, except those representing India in all formats, have been encouraged to participate in the domestic tournaments when they are not playing international cricket.

Here's what a BCCI official said

"It had to happen. They need match practice to stay fit. With many injuries of late, we must have players ready for all formats. As the President indicated, all Indian players barring all-format guys should play in domestic."

While Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, and Hanuma Vihari were already playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season for their respective states, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson featured in the first-round match for Kerala & Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, the T20 batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav and wily spinner Yuzvendra Chahal have made themselves available from round 2. Notably, this move comes under new president Roger Binny to ensure that players remain fit at all times.
