IND-W vs AUS-W: Alyssa Healy ruled out of fifth T20I; Tahlia McGrath set to lead

Ahead of the fifth and final T20I against India, Australia received a massive blow as their skipper Alyssa Healy was ruled out of the encounter. Healy, named skipper for the series in place of Meg Lanning led the side until the fourth T20I, where she suffered a right calf injury while batting, and was taken off the ground.

According to The West Australian, Tahlia McGrath, who directed orders in absence of Healy at Brabourne, will be appointed stand-in captain. The World Champions have already taken an unassailable 3-1 lead and will hope to finish the tour with a win. 

It was only last month, that McGrath guided Adelaide Strikers to their maiden Women's Big Bash League 2022 Trophy.  The all-rounder has played 18 T20Is, 19 ODIs and three Tests for Australia since making her debut in 2017.

Further, Healy would be ending her world record streak of playing 106 T20I matches that began almost 10 years ago in January 2013.

Healy will have enough time before Australia Women's next international assignment against Pakistan next month to regain full fitness, before heading to South Africa to defend their ICC Women's T20 World Cup title in February.
