Babar Azam has added another feather to his elusive cap as the 28-year-old became the first Pakistan captain to score 1000 runs in the longest format of the game in a calendar year.

The right-handed batter reached this milestone during the ongoing third and final Test against England in Karachi. He is only the sixth Pakistan batter to achieve this landmark in Test cricket.

He scored 78 runs from 123 balls in the first innings and backed it with another stellar half-century knock in the second innings to help Pakistan avoid a further collapse and take a decent lead.

With this, the elegant right-hander joined the likes of Mohsin Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, and Azhar Ali in the elite list.

Overall, he has scored more than 3000 runs in 81 Test innings so far.

However, despite him being in sensational form, Pakistan have failed to get off the mark against Englishmen in the first two Tests. They lost the first Test by 74 runs and suffered a narrow 26-run loss in the Multan Test.
