In an unfortunate turn of events, veteran batter Joe Burns has been ruled out of the remainder of the BBL 12 due to a hamstring injury.

Burns was representing Melbourne Stars in the tournament. His absence could be a big blow to the Stars, who are already missing Glenn Maxwell due to a freak injury.

In another notable event, Sydney Thunder skipper Jason Sangha's participation in the rest of the tournament is in jeopardy, as he fractured his collar bone while fielding in their third group-stage fixture against Melbourne Renegades.

Experienced all-rounder Chris Green, who will don the skipper's hat, termed Sangha an integral part of the setup and wished him a speedy recovery.

Here's what Green said

"Our thoughts are with Jason. He’s a big part of this team as captain, and an even bigger part as a batter. We saw what he did last year in his damaging role in the top order. He’s a key to our batting line-up. The squad is thinking of him at this time because any injury is tough."

The Thunder have had a forgettable journey this season, suffering two consecutive drubbings after a narrow one-wicket win over the Stars in the tournament opener.

Marred by poor form and injury concerns, they will take on the hosts Adelaide Strikers in their fourth face-off on Tuesday.
