Riding on Aaron Finch's supreme innings, Melbourne Renegades edged out Sydney Thunder in Match 7 of the Big Bash League 2022 on Sunday at Docklands Stadium.

Thunder put up a strong batting display

Batting first, Thunder openers Matthew Gilkes (3) and Alex Hales (16) again faltered with their starts. The bad form of skipper Jason Sangha (10) continued in this game as well, while Daniel Sams (1) soon made his way back to the hut.

Amid a flurry of wickets, the experienced Rilee Rossouw delivered a terrific knock of 53 off 38 balls, comprising four maximums and three fours. He was well supported by Alex Ross (39 off 23). In the end, Oliver Davies remained unbeaten on 33 off 18 to help Thunder post 174 on the board.

Renegades continue their winning momentum

In reply, wicket-keeper Sam Harper (0) couldn't be proficient enough with the start. However, his partner Nic Maddinson was sublime yet again with his pinch hitting.

Maddinson (39) added 41 runs for the second wicket with Jake Fraser McGurk (24) and a 49-run stand with Aaron Finch. Afterwards, Andre Russell (7) was holed out to mid-on off Daniel Sams.

Akeal Hosein scored a confident 13, while Finch garnered consistent boundaries to steer the team. With 11 needed off the last over, Finch (70*) sealed the chase with a ball to spare.
