One of the most anticipated Test series between Australia and South Africa gets underway on Saturday at the Gabba. Australia's record in Brisbane is legendary and instills fear in the minds of their opponents. However, South Africa skipper Dean Elgar has claimed that his side does not carry any baggage and are not afraid to play in the Australian fortress, which was breached by India in 2021. 

Speaking ahead of the first Test match,  Elgar maintained that the Proteas are salivating at the prospect of playing in Brisbane, according to PerthNow. 

Interestingly, South Africa have lost two and drawn two Tests at the Gabba.

"We don't have any dirty laundry when it comes to playing at the Gabba because as a group we haven't played here. We have got a young group, and an experienced group, and the fact we haven't played here might work in our favour.

It is almost like a surreal moment for us. We have been here two weeks and have been salivating for this moment."

The 35-year-old has been part of South Africa's winning campaign Down Under in the 2012 and 2016 series and understands the importance of leading from the front. 

Elgar further talked about the track, which is expected to be green and bouncy.

"The green colour doesn't scare us,"

​Australia have named their playing XI for tomorrow's encounter, which sees the return of regular skipper Pat Cummins. Scott Boland continues to feature as Josh Hazlewood remains unavailable due to injury.
