After a scintillating contest in the tournament opener, we march onto match no. 3 of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL). Brisbane Heat will square off against Melbourne Renegades on the former’s new home ground, Cazaly’s Stadium, Cairns.

Both these sides were reeling at the bottom of the points table in the previous edition of the BBL and would look to lift their shoulders up for the coveted season.

As both franchises face off in days’ time, we shall quickly take a look at the fantasy tips required to build a fantasy team for the following contest.

Ground Stats

This is the first time an official T20 game is going to be played here, but earlier two Tests and five ODIs have been played here. Also known by the name Bundaberg Rum Stadium is known to host games like soccer and rugby. Therefore, no T20 stats are available on this venue.

Three Must-Pick Players for the Match

Mark Steketee: The right-arm pacer bowler is known for hitting the precise line and lengths consistently. Steketee bagged 12 wickets from 8 games with a strike rate of 15.33 in the previous edition. The Queenslander had even better numbers in BBL 10 with 24 wickets under his name.

Akeal Hosein: The wily left-arm spinner has been in scintillating form with the ball in hand from last two years. He has accumulated vigorous experience playing in franchise leagues around the globe.

This is the first time Akeal will be participating in the BBL, and expect him to explode as a surprise package against the local batters.

Kane Richardson: If ‘slog-overs specialist’ in Australian condition had a synonym, 'Kane Richardson’ would definitely be a nominee. Such is the skill set of this South Australia-based pace bowler.

The mix of cutters and lethal yorkers adds a great repertoire to his armoury. One must count him as a must-pick while creating fantasy teams.

Worth the Risk Picks

  1. Max Bryant: He is one such cricketer who has a free-flowing style in his batting. Despite his inconsistent performances, the right-handed batter has been a regular customer in Australia’s greatest T20 League. The aggressive batter has a strike rate of 132.63 in his BBL career and is known to offer soaring starts.
  2. Andre Russell: When Russell is in a squad, how can one exclude him, right? The value he brings to the table makes it really tough to omit someone like ‘Dre Russ’. Despite shilly-shallying in the recent Abu Dhabi T10 League, the big Jamaican will look not to shy off from his prowess.

Three Hot Picks for Captain and Vice-Captain

  1. Akeal Hosein
  2. Kane Richardson
  3. Andre Russell
