In a remarkable turn of events, experienced Australian bowler Adam Zampa has completed 100 wickets in Big Bash League. The wily tweaker achieved this feat in Melbourne Stars' opening BBL clash against Sydney Thunder in Canberra.

Zampa, who is leading the Stars this season, cleaned up Jason Sangha and Alex Ross and became the sixth bowler and first-ever spinner to enter the 100-wicket club in the tournament's  history.

Most wickets in Big Bash League

  • Sean Abbott - 125 wickets in 94 matches
  • Andrew Tye - 118 wickets in 85 matches
  • Kane Richardson - 117 wickets in 90 matches
  • Ben Laughlin - 111 wickets in 96 matches
  • Ben Dwarshuis - 102 wickets in 83 matches
  • Adam Zampa - 100 wickets in 86 matches

Regarding the match, the Stars collapsed and could manage only a paltry 122 after being invited to bat by the Thunder.

But their bowlers made a match out of this small target, scalping crucial wickets in regular intervals. However, Gurinder Sandhu held his nerves to secure a fighting win for the Thunder in the last ball.
