Melbourne Stars, on Monday (December 12), announced the replacement for their star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for the forthcoming season of Big Bash League, starting December 13.

Tom Rogers, the Tasmanian bowling all-rounder will fill the big shoes of hard-hitting all-rounder Maxwell in the 12th edition of Australia's premier T20 tournament.

Maxwell suffered a leg fracture in a freak accident during a birthday event earlier in November after which he underwent surgery, which ruled him out of action for months, including the entire season of BBL 12.

Rogers made his debut in the BBL for Sydney Thunder in 2017. Later he went on to represent the Stars in the last season and will once again ply his services to the Stars this season.

Delighted on being linked up with the club again for the forthcoming edition of BBL, here's what the Tasmanian said:

"I am thrilled to get another opportunity at this level, and it’s great to be a part of the Stars again this season."

General Manager Blair Crouch also expressed his excitement about the development:

"It’s great to have Tom back at the Stars, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do if he gets an opportunity. We’re looking forward to a great start to the tournament in Canberra and then a huge night at the MCG on December 16."
