As per recent developments, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to rejig the players in the category list of the annual contracts.

As per the board, the men's cricketers are divided into four categories - Group A+, Group A, Group B and Group C in which players get INR 7 crores, INR 5 crores, INR 3 crores, and INR 1 crore respectively.

However, as per a PTI report; there can be a lot of jumbling as players like Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha can be axed off the contract lists. In many senses, these three players have been stalwarts of Indian cricket but have been replaced by the younger bloods now.

As per BCCI's unsaid rule, a player needs to play a specific number of games to feature on the list. Last year, Rahane and Ishant were rewarded with Group B contracts, while Saha was present in Group C.

The report further stated that Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill will be guerdoned and promoted from Category B to C.

Meanwhile, all these updates will be announced at the board’s Apex Council meeting, scheduled to be held on December 21.
