Yash Dhull set to lead as Delhi announce squad for Ranji Trophy 2022-23

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) have announced the squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2022-23. Yash Dhull will lead the 18-member team, a mix of experience and youth. Veteran batter Himmat Singh will play his Dhull's deputy in the tournament. 

In another notable event, one of India's best Test pacers, Ishant Sharma, will only be available for Delhi's first-two encounters against Maharashtra and Assam. 

Dhull, who made his FC debut against Tamil Nadu in February, has so far scored 820 runs at an impressive average of 74.54, including three tons, one double-hundred, and a fifty. 

Speaking about Dhull's appointment, a DDCA source told PTI that the association is looking for a smooth transition. , and wanted to reward Dhull for his performances.

"Somewhere we had to draw the line, we need to carry out a transition. Pradeep Sangwan, the last year's captain, had to be dropped as he hasn't been measuring up."

Delhi are placed in Elite Group B alongside Maharashtra, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra, Andhra, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.
