In a significant development, veteran speedster Jaydev Unadkat has joined the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. Unadkat replaces experienced paceman Mohammed Shami, who has been ruled out of the series due to a shoulder injury.

This is a massive opportunity for Unadkat, who, despite performing admirably in the Ranji Trophy, was repeatedly failing to make his Test comeback. However, this can't be termed as his fault, as India are blessed with a formidable pace unit comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav.

Unfortunately, India suffered two massive setbacks with Bumrah and Shami being sidelined for the entire series. Therefore, as it seems, India want an experienced campaigner in the bowling unit and have, therefore, added the left-arm seamer to their squad.

Unadkat, who leads Saurashtra, is hailed as a legend in the Indian domestic circuit, having claimed 353 wickets in 96 First-Class appearances. He has also played 286 white-ball games, scalping 378 wickets in his illustrious career. He has played a solitary Test against South Africa back in 2010.
