Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne, who recently attained the numero uno position in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, reached a huge milestone on Friday.

On the second day of the ongoing Adelaide Test against West Indies, he became the second-fastest batter in history to score 3000 Test runs, behind only Sir Donald Bradman.

The stylish batter took 51 innings to reach 3000 Test runs, equalling legendary West Indian Everton Weekes. Meanwhile, Bradman got there in just 33 innings.

Labuschagne, who has been in stellar form in Test cricket, completed his 10th century in the longest format on Thursday. It was his third consecutive ton in the series, with one of them being a double ton.

The 28-year-old smashed 163 runs from 305 balls in the ongoing innings of Australia, including a total of 14 boundaries before getting dismissed by Devon Thomas.

Labuschagne was the standout performer for Australia in the Test series opener, as he hammered 204 runs in the first innings and backed it up with an unbeaten knock of 104 in the second.

Courtesy of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne's double tons, Australia registered a comprehensive 164-run victory in the first Test to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. They will be looking to wrap up the series by winning the Adelaide Test.
