Venkatesh Prasad likely to become BCCI selection committee chairman: Reports

As per emerging reports, legendary former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad is the front-runner in the race for the new chairman of the BCCI selection committee. 

A source close to the BCCI has informed that the new selection committee will be finalised before the end of December and Prasad, being one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket, will likely succeed Chetan Sharma as the new chairman. 


Here's what the source has said

"The new selection committee will be finalized and announced before the end of this month. Venkatesh Prasad is one of the most experienced cricketer who has applied for the role. No formal discussions have happened but he is likely to get vote of confidence from all as new chairman."


Potential candidates for the new selection committee

While Prasad, the new chairman, will represent the South Zone, former pacer Salil Ankola will likely join the committee as the West Zone representative. 

On the other hand, a three-person tussle is expected between Maninder Singh, Atul Wasan and Nikhil Chopra for the North Zone representative's role. 

Meanwhile, opener Shiv Sunder Das, who played 27 international matches, can be picked from the East Zone. In contrast, Nayan Mongia's name is doing the rounds as a potential pick from the Central Zone.
