Australia have suffered a big blow as experienced pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test against West Indies. Queensland bowler Michael Neser has replaced him in the playing XI for the Pink-Ball game.

Hazlewood suffered from "general soreness" and the Australia team management won't risk him, especially with the South Africa series starting this month.

However, later in the day, Cricket Australia gave an update on Hazlewood's injury citing that he has sustained a low-grade left side strain. The seamer will also head back home for rehabilition, which makes his case difficult for the South Africa series.

Apart from Hazlewood, skipper Pat Cummins will also miss the Pink-Ball Test at Adelaide due to a quad injury he sustained in the first Test at Perth. In his absence, Steve Smith will lead the side.

It is remarkably the same situation which the Aussie faced last summer against England at Adelaide, when both Cummins (Covid-19 close contact), and Hazlewood suffered from an injury missed the Test match and two debutants replaced them.

Neser made his debut in that Test match and has not played for Australia since then.
