Mehidy Hasan reflects on his match-winning performance

Mehidy Hasan again emerged to be the hero of Bangladesh with his all-around contributions in the second ODI against India on Thursday (December 7) at Dhaka. His performance helped the Tigers to secure a bilateral ODI series at home against India for the second time in a row. 

Batting first, Bangladesh were in dire strait as they were reduced to 69/6, with proficient display from the Indian bowlers. However, Mehidy and Mahmudullah composed knocks resurrected Bangladesh's innings and put them in good stead. 

The duo added a 148-run stand for the seventh wicket before Mahmudullah made his way back for 77. Nevertheless, Mehidy was terrific to pave way for Bangladesh to post 271 and hit his maiden ODI century. He remained unbeaten on 100 off 83 balls, comprising eight boundaries and four sixes. 

With the ball, Mehidy took the important wickets of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, which put India on the back foot. Eventually, Bangladesh clinched a thriller by five runs and took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series. 

At the post-match presentation, the 25-year-old expresses his delight in his hard work delivering great results in the batting department. Mehidy further added that him and Mahmudullah were working on small targets in their partnerships, which helped them to reach a quality score on the board. 

"Feels very good. Last few years, I have worked hard on the batting and focused on certain areas to improve. My coaches have given me a lot of information on improving my game. I was just trying to hit the good areas with the ball and put pressure on them."

The final game of the ODI series between both teams will take place on Saturday (December 10) at Chattogram.
