In what could be a significant blow to team India, captain Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury during the ongoing second ODI against Bangladesh. Rohit hurt his thumb while attempting for a catch in the second over, following which he immediately left the field.

As per BCCI's latest statement, Rohit has gone for scans and is, therefore, doubtful to participate in the remainder of the game. In the veteran batter's absence, Vice-Captain KL Rahul is leading the team.

Here's what BCCI has stated

"India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans."

As per the latest visuals, Rohit has returned to the Indian dressing room with his injured thumb taped. Therefore, it's still uncertain if he will open the Indian innings. If he doesn't, KL Rahul will likely partner Shikhar Dhawan at the top.
