After a disappointing loss to England in the first ODI, West Indies Women have been dealt with a further blow. The Women in Maroon have been slapped with 40 per cent penalty for sustaining slow over rate.

They were found short by two overs during the game which they lost by massive margin of 142 runs in Antigua.

Match Referee Denavon Hayles sanctioned the side which captain Hayley Matthews accepted. There would be no need of formal hearing as the skipper accepted the penalty.

Players were fined 40% in keeping view of Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the required time.

The charge was proposed by on-field umpires Jacqueline Williams and Leslie Reifer, and third umpire Nigel Duguid.
