Since making her Australian Women's debut in January 2022, leg-spinner Alana King has impressed everyone with her bowling. King, born to parents of Indian origin, will represent Australia in the five-match T20I series against India beginning December 9 in Mumbai.

This will be King's first trip to India as an Australian national player, having played in the Women's T20 Challenge with Supernovas in May 2022.

Overall, the 27-year-old has taken 31 wickets for Australia across formats, having already featured in The Ashes, and won the ICC World Cup 2022 and Commonwealth Games gold medal in her short career.

Speaking about her first trip to India, King said that her family is looking forward to watching her play in their ancestral home.

"A few family friends might be making the trip. There are a few in Mumbai. Hopefully I get to see them and they get to see me play in the flesh. That will be cool. When I do speak to them it is like nothing has changed and that could be a few months apart.

And that would be cool for them to see me play cricket. I am sure WhatsApp will start blowing up close to the game."

King, a member of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) club Perth Scorchers, expressed excitement over the inaugural edition of the Women's Indian Premier League next year.

"It's pretty much at the forefront of everyone's mind that there is an IPL coming up,"
