Superstar of women's cricket, Australia's Ellyse Perry has been handed a one-match Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) ban for maintaining slow-over rate in the WBBL 2022 final between the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat.

Perry, who leads the Sixers, will miss out on the opening match of the WBBL 09 edition, after receiving her third strike from match officials for a slow over-rate.

The Sixers were found an over short in their narrow 10-run defeat in the WBBL 2022 final against the eventual winner's Heat. Both Perry and team management have decided not to challenge the decision.

Perry had a phenomenal WBBL 08 season, scoring 408 runs, which included four fifties, and also managed to pick up six wickets. Her captaincy skills saw her side take top-spot on the table in the league stage after finishing last in the 2021 edition.

The all-rounder is currently touring India, where the Australian Women's team will play a five-T20I series commencing December 9 in Mumbai.
